NEW MUSIC MONDAYS - MAVADO - VOODOO

MAVADO - VOODOO - MANSION RECORDS

Jamaican artiste David “Mavado” Brooks has come a long way, the “gangsta fi life” hit that brought him onto the scene has stuck with him throughout his career and despite all the tribulations he has been thru lately it seems as if he just takes everything in with a grain of salt because it surely isn’t slowing him down one bit. Mavado is hotter than he has ever been and not just locally in his homeland island of Jamaica but has been getting international recognition for his recent work and I must say deservingly so. Mavado music has a new feel for it, as of late he has embarked on making music for airplay and radio play mostly with no cursing in his songs, a lot of people are not recognizing it but himself along with artistes on the Big Ship Records captained by well renown producer Stephen “Di Genius” McGregor have been trying to bring back the niceness to dancehall..

Mavado is taking his career to new levels and he has just created his own music label, Mansion Records, a few months back and released the first single Delilah off the label. Mavado noted that he started the label to assist himself and other artistes so that they could be in control of what they did on their own and the direction in which they would take their music. He also said he would be working with other artistes like Assassin, Munga, his fellow members of the Alliance and possibly some international acts. This is Mavado’s first time trying his hands at producing. Delilah was produced by Mavado and co-produced by Logwood Productions.

Having your own record label and wanting to take it international means that you have to be able to travel everywhere and now Mavado can do that again because he has been re-issued his United States visa which was revoked sometime last year for reasons still unknown despite the speculations that the Christopher “Dudus” Coke extradition played a major role in revocation of a number of top artistes visas. In a release, his handlers said the issues surrounding the revocation of Mavado's US Visa in April 2010 have now been fully resolved. In the statement, Mavado said “he is looking forward to getting back to work in the US where his army of fans will once again be able to see him perform after the prolonged absence.” In his first interview on Hot 97 in New York he thanked the US government for investigating the allegations against him and also his fans for their support.

His latest song Voodoo is off his own label Mansion Records and just basically talking about his competition and basically claiming the crown of dancehall music...I’m really proud of how far he has come...Check out his new song by downloading it from the link below!!!!!
