POETRY FRIDAYS!!! - FEASTING ON YOUR BODY

FEASTING ON YOUR BODY
My phone goes off and at the door is who I want it to be
Anxiously I open up and that sexy outfit is what greeted me
Candle lights lit
Soft music marinate the air
A few rose petals to make the scenery right
Wine on chill ready to be pop like an epic event is about to go down
Basket of fruits complimenting the aura
No doubt all my secret fantasies are at the forefront of my mind
And as we sit recline
Our bodies begin to intertwine
My hands motioning between the thighs
Stimulating erotic sensations
Bodies trembling from the touch like volcanic vibrations
Oh how we want each other so much
As I bite on a strawberry, I let the juices run down my chest
And squeeze a few so our bodies are both dripping wet
And as I take my tongue and capture all the juices flowing
My heart begins to pound harder from excitement of the forbidden
Now our bodies covered with goosebumps
Shadows reflecting on the wall from the moonlit sky piercing through the curtains
My fingers begin to glide on that soft silky skin adding a few kisses from the lips
Discovering all the secret spots once unknown
Babyoil beginning to plaster our bodies
Chemistry is now at an all time high
All that's on the agenda is to feast on each other's body
I have a lunchpan of snacks and Im ready to eat
The bedroom has become the playground as we play in each other's sandbox
And as we thrust into overdrive the heat has intensified
Now our bodies are like the aftermath of a hurricane
Wet and wild
And as we embrace each other we surprise each other with what we got in store
Legs locking, bodies curling, heat rising
This is what you call love making
Hair sweating, bed moving, slight screaming
All the pleasures of lust is now revealing
Far from a climax, this movie has become a mini series
Multiple episodes of constant panting as we hit each other's spots
No one is looking to stop
No one is giving in
We both are going for the win
But I'll settle for a draw as long as we can always go for a spin

FASHION TUESDAYS!!! - ALEXANDER McQUEEN

THE LEGACY OF ALEXANDER McQUEEN
Where should I start with this piece, oh the joy of stepping into a realm that so many have spoke upon already, but here goes, hope you guys appreciate what I learned and will be sharing about Lee Alexander McQueen. As we all know he was a British fashion designer, after he left school he served as an apprentice for Savile Row and it was while working there he had clients which included the likes of Prince Charles of his native England and President Mikhail Gorbachev of Russia just to name 2 well known world figures he was associated with in his early career. He then attended an Arts and Design school where he graduated with his masters degree in fashion and it was there popular stylist Isabella Blow bought out his entire graduation collection. She later on persuaded him to call himself by his middle name Alexander instead of using his first name when he eventually launched what is now considered an illustrious fashion career to say the least.

I’ve had the pleasure of looking thru his collection which is very vast among other things and must say that although I may not be a fashion expert, you can see that he possessed a rare talent which makes him somewhat of a fashion genius and in my mind a very extraordinary trendsetter. A British columnist once said “McQueen’s early runway collections developed his reputation for controversy and shock tactics earning him the title “l’enfant terrible” which means “the hooligan of English fashion”. I personally think he didn’t really care what people thought of him because he knew the artistry skills that he possessed and transcended what he had in his mind onto the runway so everyone could experience his amazing creations just the way he pictured them. He was very innovative and conveyed fascinating work creations which eventually played a very influential role in broadening the scope and may I say boundaries of fashion…It’s as if he could make the dark and ugly looked beautiful and pretty and vice versa.

A lot may also know that McQueen was openly gay and some may ask did this affect his sense of creativity? I would beg to differ, it more so probably made the ladies love him some more and become comfortable around him in my opinion…However, he did have a bit of rebellious streak in him but that should come as no surprise with how different he was… He said that “I am sure of myself and my sexuality and I’ve got nothing to hide. I went straight from my mother’s womb onto the gay parade”. You gotta respect a man who gives it to you plain and straight. In the summer of 2000, McQueen married close friend and partner George Forsyth but the union didn’t last too long, less than 2 years to be exact…But it wasn’t all bad because later that fall he entered into a partnership with Gucci where he became its new fashion designer.

McQueen has won awards for “British Designer of the Year”, which he won numerous times and also “International Designer of the Year” just to name a few. He has impacted fashion in so many ways and one that was interesting to me was that his “bumster”, which appeared in 1996 spawned the creation of low-rise jeans, which I didn’t know. He has designed for numerous celebrities that have graced the cover of magazines, runways, red carpets, videos, shows such as Janet Jackson, Gweneth Paltrow, Sarah Jessica Parker, Sandra Bullock, and he has designed for even Bjork the singer. He did her album cover and her video, and let’s not to forget about Lady Gaga. Lady Gaga is the one that made me actually hear the name Alexander McQueen from her outrageous award shows outfits..He wasn’t scared to incorporate birdcages, butterflies, antlers, feathered wigs or even the famous towering “armadillo” shoes that Gaga wore in one of her videos…I must note that he was versatile at what he did because even the 1st lady of the United States of America Michelle Obama has donned the designer creations..Now that’s remarkable.

Tragic news hit the fashion industry on February 11, 2010. McQueen killed himself just days after his mother died in his London home…We all knew he would be missed because he was an icon in fashion and when it comes to fashion week, its just not the same without his presence. He has left a legacy that will last a lifetime and also a void which can never be filled although many will try. His attention to detail and work ethic still inspires young and upcoming designers and will for a long time coming…The man who got his originality from his dreams surely impacted a generation,, His work is still being put on exhibition and recently up until last week The Metropolitan Museum of Art here in New York honored his work by displaying over 150 designs at an exhibition titled “Savage Beauty”..He is gone but truly not forgotten..We may not agree with his styles, his methods, his mindset, or even his sexuality but we all can agree that he was one of the greatest fashion designers of this era…

NEW MUSIC MONDAYS - WORLDWIDE SOCA?

DOES SOCA MUSIC DESERVES MORE INTERNATIONAL ATTENTION?

Hip Hop is worldwide, R & B which is sometimes considered sort of a subset or a cousin of hip hop is also worldwide, a lot of other genres are worldwide including Reggae but one of the most prevalent genres in the Caribbean and Northeast America which is soca music in some people minds doesn’t really get all the respect that it truly deserves. I was once an avid non-supporter of the genre but being more exposed to it, I have become a lover of the sounds, the dances associated with it and its particularly fast paced music…So what will it take for the rest of the world to realize that this form of music is really good and deserves more attention on a worldwide scale.

We can all agree that Reggae is known as the popular music that derived from the Caribbean with the sounds from the late great Bob Marley and Peter Tosh, but the Caribbean is made up of so many different countries and cultures that sometimes some are overlooked and don’t get mention as much as the popular ones…A lot of people may argue about where soca was invented but its best known to originate from the twin island of Trinidad and Tobago in 1963. Soca's popularity grew through the 70s and early 1980s, finally becoming an international chart-topper after "Hot Hot Hot", a 1983 release by Arrow, who hailed from Montserrat. Arrow soon proved himself to be one of the most innovative soca artists of the 80s, incorporating zouk and other influences into a series of best-selling singles…However we haven’t had a lot of consistent international buzz.
Well as of late, Soca’s fan base has been growing vastly across the world, it might not have the worldwide stamp of approval as yet but its making its way and as a fellow Caribbean native I must say that I’m really proud of that accomplishment…When we talk about soca today we have to talk about Machel Montano, he has become the face of soca music and also somewhat of an ambassador as well. He hails from the origin country Trinidad and Tobago as well and in 2011, Machel won the International Soca Monarch competition and defeated the likes of Iwer George and Bunji Garlin who both have won the crown before and also serve as soca ambassadors. After a fierce night of competition in the end, Machel walked away with the $2 million prize and the first Soca Monarch title of his career. He then went on to win the road march title with the same hit 'Advantage' by a landslide victory.

You have soca artists from all over, some known countries include Trinidad and Tobago with Machel Montano and Bunji Garlin, Barbados with Lil Rick, and Grenada with Tallpree, just to name a few…In my opinion soca music is starting to put its brand on everything that it touches and a lot of people are embracing the high energy and fast-paced music…One thing I can tell you, if you go to a soca party make sure you are ready to move that waistline, jump up and down and you surely wont be bored because no one stands around…oh yeah and there are a lot of girls present from what I notice. Soca music is definitely leaving its mark and now we even see carnivals here in the US in New York, Boston, Washington D.C, Atlanta and Miami.

Wherever there is soca there is carnival, and that array of colors and costumes have made it an event you dont want to miss...You have carnivals everywhere and even recently we have seen photos from Barbados carnival where pop star and Barbados national Rihanna was taking part and having a world of fun I might add...Will that open a few more eyes to the genre, I hope so...Will Soca get the international acclaim that some thinks it deserve, we will just have to wait and see? But for now you can download the newest Soca song that is taking over and it comes from Lil Rick called Jones and Wuk Up.

HEALTHY SUNDAYS!!! - NUTRIENTS PT.2

FRUITS AND VEGETABLES FOR A HEALTHY LIFESTYLE PART 2

Today in our health, series part 2 of 2, I will continue to talk about nutrients and how beneficial it is to our body...we have learned that they are very essential to our health and that daily dose of the rainbow colors allow for our body to be strong and filled with proper nutrients. There are Five(5) particular colors that experts have grouped…You have Red, Purple, Green, White and Orange (Yellow)…Last week we looked at 2 colors, the green and also the orange…Today we will be looking at red, purple and white

I’m going to start off with the color red today because I feel real good lol and it’s very intriguing of all the colors to me. The color red gives you the nutrients that your body is going to love, they are delicious and they range from sweet strawberries to spicy red peppers, some other well known red products of nutrients consists of cherries, red apples, pomegranate, radishes and tomatoes to name a few. The health benefits of the color red in our daily nutrients are very important because it helps with Prostate health and DNA health…To all my male friends, this color is very very essential because we know how prevalent prostate cancer is getting and you need proper DNA health which makes your physical, psychological and inner awareness and self discovery works better.
The color purple I must mentioned moves a little into the blue range as well. Purple and blue fruits and vegetables are rich in color, flavor and most importantly nutrients. They support heart and brain health and provide excellent antioxidant protection. Some of the fruits and vegetables that we can consume are black currants, eggplant, plums, beets, blackberries (not the phone lol) blueberries and what I love the most grapes. The health benefits are great and they help with a lot of important functions that the body needs to perform properly. Some of the benefits include better cognitive health, hearth health; these nutrients even support arterial function and provides antioxidant protection…Still think that we don’t need to eat right, well think again my friends.
Last but not least we have the color white. You have to feel right, when you partake of the color white. White fruits and vegetables are savory favorites and a tasty way to support a healthy lifestyle. My uncle has a restaurant and he always tells me that Kwesi, to make customers enjoy their food the right way you have to properly season the food and he is always putting in a mixture of seasoning but he never leaves out his garlic and onions and they are a part of this group…Some others include pears, cauliflower, white kidney beans, horseradish and mushrooms..Some key health benefits is that they maintain healthy bones and we definitely needs those, cant do without our bones, they help with our circulatory health and also support our arterial function.
Well this concludes our series on living a healthy lifestyle through eating fruits and vegetables. I hope that we really taste the "rainbow" so that we may benefit properly through our daily diets..

POETRY FRIDAYS!!! - POSSIBILITIES ARE?

POSSIBILITIES ARE ENDLESS!!!

At first glance, all that was left was her mere shadow but I could tell she was out of my league
Nevertheless I turned back, my heart racing trying to catch up to her speed
I normally don't consider myself to chase females especially ones like this
I stopped her and said hello, she answered but all I could see is the motion of her lips
I told her my name, she told me her's and we exchanged numbers agreeing to speak later on
We went our separate ways, so I turned around couldn't help but watch her body carrying on
Somehow contact was never made like a soldier lost in a field of battle because I lost the info
I felt like an incompetent Dj who couldn't mix a track at a disco
Days turned into weeks and weeks turned into months as I think of what could have been
Fantasizing of caressing her skin and committing that ultimate sin
Wasn't the type to believe in love at first sight but my mind was impeded by a presence like none other
Now I'm drowning in my thoughts, gathering my emotions, asking myself if she's really the ninth wonder
As faith would have it, we cross paths again and exchange a chat
Me revealing how in awwe she left me and she saying the exact thing back
To my surprise I could have never imagine she felt how I did
She noticed every part of me also from my shoes to my eyelid
Love and attraction doesn't only come from outward appearance
I got to find out that she knew about me from a mutual acquaintance
Sometimes you just have to approach a wall like you can climb over
Because sometimes it will fall faster than an old lady bending over
Go for what you want in life whether its a female and don't miss the opportunities
Because who knows what will happen in the future, there is so much possibilities
Always believe in yourself and you can achieve and get anything you set your mind on
Because we all are place on this earth to be happy and and to remain strong

CELEBRITY THURSDAYS - THE ROAD TO TRIUMPH!!!!

ROBERT DOWNEY JR. - THE ROAD TO TRIUMPH!!!!
During his life we live nothing comes easy to us, no matter if we are rich or poor, black or white, it just doesn’t matter…We still have to live our lives and even though some might disagree we all face obstacles, roadblocks and many distractions that we have to face and overcome on this journey which is live…I really believe that the problems we face each day is what really makes or breaks us and whether we are able to conquer them…We might try and fail, but do we try again, and I must say from experience that triumph feels so rewarding when you know that you finally succeeded…The road to triumph is a hard but lovely one and nobody depicts it more to me than Robert Downey Jr.

Robert Downey is no stranger to the entertainment business, Born in New York City, to parents who were both actors, you could say it was in his genes. At a young age when his father started to direct films he even had himself a few roles, so you conclude that he has been basically acting all his life…A lot of us would consider him well off and lucky but not everything that glitters is gold…He was introduced to marijuana and drugs at a very young age, six to be exact. You may ask how did a child so young got his hands on drugs so young? They were given to him by his dad and he and his dad created a bond this way that they did drugs together; to me this was a pre-cursor of things to come…

Downey Jr has been abusing drugs and alcohol all his life and for someone who had so much easy access to it, Im pretty shocked that it did not take a toll on him more or even killed him…From 1996 through 2001, this was known as the darkest days of Downey life where he saw himself arrested numerous times on drug-related charges including cocaine, heroin and marijuana and went several times through drug treatment programs unsuccessfully. In April 1996 Downey was arrested for possession of heroin, cocaine and an unloaded handgun while he was speeding down Sunset Boulevard and that was just the beginning of a five year bid of drowning in himself. He was basically living out of jail, because he just kept on abusing substances and was arrested over and over and lost out on movie projects and got fired from shows because of missed rehearsals…His life was basically in a tales spin.

However there comes a point when you realize you can’t take anymore and you just have to buckle up and face the problem head on and that’s what Downey Jr. did and that’s what we all must do..In order to overcome something that is controlling us, we must first have to seize control again. He said “It's not that difficult to overcome these seemingly ghastly problems...what's hard is to decide to actually do it.” After five years of substance abuse, arrest, rehab, and relapse, Robert Downey Jr. was finally ready to work toward a full recovery from drugs and a return to his career. He decided to face his problems and to say the least he overcame them and has been regaining success ever since and just to show proof, he starred in the box office hit Iron Man and its sequel which got nothing but rave reviews from both critics and viewers based of his tremendous acting.

The point I'm trying to make today is that we may be battling alcohol, depression, family, work, school, drugs or just regular stress among other things in our lives and its getting the best of us day by day but let me tell you something we can overcome them. We just have to finally make up our minds like Robert Downey Jr. to face the challenge head on and sometimes we might even need to reach out for help, so that we can win that battle. Pride is a very boastful thing but sometimes we have to let go of it..So if yourself or anybody that you know is going through any problems just remember that where there is will there is a way

FASHION TUESDAYS - HAIR & STYLES!!!!!

HAIRSTYLES AS A FASHION TREND!!!

We have all come to distinguish fashion with the clothes, shoes or hats that we wear among other things but those things are all necessarily outer garments or things that we put on our body...However fashion in 2011 as I’ve said before has transcended to the point where things we do to our own body like even putting on tattoos is a fashion trend...Today I’m not going to talk about tattoos but I will be stepping into the fire and talking about another fashion trend which most times we don’t have to buy, all we have to do is maybe wash it, set it, cut it, dye it, style it, etc...By this you should know I’m talking about our HAIR

Whenever we step out of our homes, the way we adorn and carry ourselves have always been taught to us that its very essential to how we are perceived...Before time everyone have been going to hairdressers and barbers to make their hairstyles "poppin" but I beg to say that it’s a bit more serious these days…A lot of people get hairstyles that are eye popping and stand out more and more each day, and for many different reasons, just to do it, a party, work, school etc…Lets take the phenomenon of how much color we see in everybody’s head from both male and females : not to mention that the age does not even play a factor because kids and old folks alike are doing it up…Well known celebrities like Chris Brown and Rihanna can be seen donning Blonde and Red hairdos among other celebrities…Its definitely no secret that your hairstyle is basically part of your outfit...

Growing up I used to watch a lot of cartoons and hockey shows like the Mighty Ducks and Mr. T and those were the only places where I first saw mohawks but over the last two years they have made a resurgence in society as a fashion trend…In my opinion Caucasian males never stopped getting mohawks but it wasn’t that prevalent but mohawks made a significant impact on other males in different ethnicity groups such as African American among others…Everybody rocks a  mohawk now, well almost everybody lol and like I said before even colors it, and even get designs which can range from various amount of things, even like myself in the picture below…So as you can see, a lot of hairstyles designs overlap because people are incorporating different things basically to their liking...
Ok let me separate the genders for a bit, a lot of ladies are getting short hairstyles and caesar cuts that men generally get from the barbers and I must say that it looks real good on a lot of them…I’ve asked  a few ladies why they went that route and I’ve gotten reasons like it’s cheaper, It’s easier to deal with, no bad hair days, and it saves time, which sound all legitimate to me but some have also dyed it with color like I said above and some have also started to once again get designs which I think is cool…If anybody knows me, they know I love designs because I get them as well…

Whether guys wear braids or females wear weaves, hairstyle is very essential to how you look, and they way you look these days basically represents your fashion trend in some sense…One more thing as well because I didn’t want to leave them out, are the ladies who are going natural, that’s another phenomenon that’s also going on but contrary to popular belief its actually more expensive to keep up with treating your natural hair than a perm hairstyle…A lot of ladies also have the Cassie look where one side of their head is shaven low and the other side is their regular hair, that also looks nice...Guys I would prefer if you didn't try that at home lol

Whatever you choose to do with your hair, is basically up to you but at this moment you could probably do something crazy and just say your expressing yourself the way you want to and people may love it and may try to emulate your style…Blow dryers, Shears, Colors and Designs to the world….whatever you do to your hair, have fun with it…..

NEW MUSIC MONDAYS - "OTIS"

KANYE WEST AND JAY-Z FEAT OTIS REDDING - "OTIS"

Jay-Z and Kanye West “Otis” has become an instant hit off their highly anticipated collaboration album “The Throne” set to release August 8th 2011... Just off the fact that they paid homage to Otis Redding by calling the song his 1st name alone shows that they are very are fond and respect his classical soul sound. You would find a few if any who would disagree that both Kanye and Jay-Z are two of the biggest icons and pioneers of hip hop music in its very state at this moment and even though this song is somewhat exposing this generation to the soul music of the early sixties, a lot of youngsters just don’t know a lot about that era..I’m a fan of hip hop myself but I wouldn’t consider myself a hip hop head per se but I’m a huge fan of the fifties and sixties American soul music and that is the Era that Otis Redding came from with his raw and pleading sound and inspired by my favorite artiste Sam Cooke who was smooth and sure and also his idol…A lot of people know who Jay-Z and Kanye is, so I’m going to introduce you to the man they call “Otis”.

In 1962, Otis Redding made his first real mark in the music business during a Johnny Jenkins session when, during studio time left over, he recorded "These Arms of Mine", a ballad that he had written…Up until today this classic stills get played and is very well known to many…Redding wrote many of his own songs, which was unusual for the time and in some sense can be compared to Jay and Ye in some sense because they are always thinking out the box…That’s how Redding was perceived at times, using extra time to do extra things which he thought could make him better and a bit different from the rest – cues “Kanye” lol…"Sittin on the Dock of the Bay" was also another hit recorded only three days prior to Redding's death in an airplane accident… The song was released in   January 1968 and became Redding's only number-one single on the Billboard Hot 100, and the first posthumous number one single in U.S. chart history.

On "Otis" Kanye and Jay use a sampling of Otis Redding's 1966 version of "Try a Little Tenderness." It's definitely not the first time that we've seen hip hop artistes use samples from classical songs and I doubt it will be the last but rarely do we see them or hear them for that manner leaves the artistes voice on the track...I love when that happens. In an MTV exclusive interview the daughter of the late great Karla Redding-Andrews stated that "It really means a lot to me, particularly to a whole new generation of young legends, because that's what Jay-Z and Kanye are, I just think it's wonderful to tie an old legendary artist whose music history will never die to something that they have come up with. I just think the collaboration was certainly a tribute to him, and it's really great. Ultimately, "Otis" is exposing a new generation to Redding's music in a very hip and cool way.”
