POETRY 30/30 - IRON BALLOON!!!!!!!

IRON BALLOON!!!!!!!

I want to spread my wings and fly, I want to make it somewhere beyond the sky
I want to be successful at everything I try; I really want to make my mom proud instead of cry
I consider myself an entrepreneur, somewhat of a modern day jack of all trade
But just because nothing has come to fruition as of yet, doesn’t mean I'm playing around like an arcade
I'm motivated everyday by success, wealth, love, fortune, and just thinking about growing old
Being happy, being married, having kids and vacationing to somewhere hot when it’s cold
Is it just me or does it feel like people around you lose faith when something doesn’t work?
They tend to forget that you took the risk of even trying and all they do is laugh and just smirk
You’re never gonna make it, give up on your dream, don’t you see you’re no good
Pack it up, stop trying, go siddung, you are worst than the little engine that could
Those are the words and phrases you hear from close friends and family alike
I'm not talking about strangers; I'm talking about the ones who’ve seen you grow from when you started riding your first bike
Lately some of us might have been hearing that you’ve started many projects but you’ve mastered not one
Just take it in stride, because all in due time, nothing happens before it’s suppose to be done
In Jamaica where I'm from, they call people who never make it in what they do an “Iron Balloon”
They never get credit for their effort or the endeavor, all they get is a shot up reputation like an old western saloon
You can make a small cup of tea using a soup scoop but you can do it better with a teaspoon
The point I’m making is, you have to start small, crawl before you walk, then go hard like a typhoon
One thing I know is that I'm gonna take this world by storm whenever I emerge out my cocoon
And for all those people who think you’re gonna fail, when you don’t just laugh at them like a baboon
People might love you but they may not always believe in you, trust me I know
It doesn’t matter what people say, because they will talk, just remember you are the star of your own show
None of us can achieve everything that we set out to do, its reality but we don’t need people killing our dreams
Just remember it doesn’t matter if we get called an iron balloon or not, we control our destiny, so we decide if we reign supreme
